This workshop will help students navigate the college planning and application process, so the steps feel less stressful amidst the pressures of school, extracurriculars, and senior activities. Our College Planning & Admissions Workshops will help your family approach and fulfill the admissions process with confidence. It will also prevent students from missing any important fall deadlines. Our College Planning & Admissions Workshop is designed to serve the needs of students in 12th grade, however, students in 11th-12th grades are also welcome.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS/MENTORS
Nicholas Valenzuela, Ph.D.
Dr. Nicholas Valenzuela, or “Dr. Nick” as his students call him, is a College Admissions Specialist, coach, & consultant. He has coached hundreds of students with college admissions at the undergraduate and graduate school levels. He reduces stress for both parents and students going through the process of applying to top colleges and universities. He supports students and their families by addressing items, such as: how do I pick a major, how do I pick a college/university, how do I pay for college and how do I get in.
Dr. Nick guides students through the process of self-discovery, while placing emphasis on core values. He helps students highlight key experiences and perspectives. In addition, he'll help students gain a better understanding of how to manage higher education goals with career goals.
Dr. Nick’s dedication to helping students comes from his life experiences from growing up in a Spanish speaking barrio to himself navigating the college admissions process for top universities and working in the boardrooms of billion dollar Silicon Valley companies. He is happy to help the next generation fulfill their college and career goals.
Yukta Mehtaji
Yukta is a writing tutor, specialized in personal statements and college essays. She is currently a graduate student at SSU getting a Master's in Mental Health Counseling. She has a B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis on research and a minor in English Writing. She has worked at two universities and privately as a writing tutor for the last 5 years and specializes in personal statements, such as college applications, research papers, and creative writing. She has tutored a diverse group of students including many nontraditional students who may struggle with study skills, writing habits, or language barriers.
Yukta is excited to mentor a diverse group of pre-college students and/or college students looking to transfer with their college essays.
